7 pounds pears

4 cups water

2 cups sugar

1/3 cup blanched almonds

1/2 cup almond liqueur

Peel pears, cut into halves and core. Treat to prvent darkening. Rinse and drain. Cook pears in water on layer at a time, simmering 5 minutes, set aside.. Combine 4 cups water and sugar in saucepot. Bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes, stirring until sugar dissolves. Pack hot jars, leaving 1/4" headspace. Add 1 tbsp. almonds to each jar. Remove sugar syrup from heat. stir in almond liquer. Ladle hot syrup over pears, leaving headspace (1/4"). Adjust lids. Process 10 minutes in boiling water canner. Make 6 pints
