I found a way that kids seem to love to eat dried fruit. I do cheat and use store bought stuff.
 

POCKET SNACK
natural applesauce no sugar added  assorted dried fruits (raisins, apples, pineapple, bananas, pears, cranberries, ect.) spray fruit roll tray lightly with pam wipe any excess oil. pour 2 cups applesauce onto fruit roll trays and place in dehydrator or line pizza pan with plastic wrap and oil spread applesauce on it a place in a very low temp. oven. leave in the dehydrator 130 F for about 4 to 10 hours depending on the dehydrator. when dry, the applesauce becomes a paper thin sheet that easily peels off the sheet if there are any sticky areas, dry it longer. cut the fruit roll in half and wrap each half around an ice cream cone use a hole punch to punch out 2 holes one next to the other about 1/4 in. apart where the fruit roll overlaps. Use honey as paste to stick it together then get the thin red rope licorice and place threw holes and tie on the other side fill these with dried fruits. Kids like it because they can eat the whole thing even the container.
